June 2013/Creature #27: Cipactli


In Aztec mythology, this fish-like crocodile was the primordial sea monster out of which the gods created the Earth. The god Tezcatlipoca sacrificed his foot to Cipactli in order to help form the Earth itself.

      Of course! It's a totally open project. Feel free to share with friends.

      To join all you have to do is scan in your Cipactli drawing and email it to magicalcreaturesproject@gmail.com by Sunday June 30th.

      Once I get all the submissions, I'll post them the next day (or very soon).
