Creature #26: Tangie

A sinister water horse from the folklore of the Shetland Isles. Its name derives from the Danish word for seaweed, which covers it like long shaggy hair. Sometimes Tangies have been known to appear as old men, but they are most frequently seen as horses that invite unwary traveler to ride upon them, after which they gallop off into the nearest deep water. A ferocious robber named Black Eric was siad to ride a Tangie, giving him extraordinary powers and strength. Eventually he fell from the creature's back over a cliff known as Fitful Head, but the Tangie continued to terrorize the area.

Deadline for all Tangie action to be sent to magicalcreaturesproject@gmail.com: Monday, June 18th.

Creature #25: Nain

In Breton legend, the Nain (which means dwarf) is a black, menacing figure. He has feline claws on his hands and satyr-like hooves on his feet. He haunts dolmens and standing stones, and the inscriptions found upon them are supposed to be his work. His special day is Wednesday and an annual festival remembers him on the first Wednesday of May. He is the keeper of hidden treasure.
