the ultimate a - z of fantastic beings
from myth and magic
by John & Caitlin Matthews
The book is exactly what the title describes, 682 pages of alphabetically ordered magical creatures each with a short description and set of defining facts.
Using this book as a base, we'd like to start a project that will create a place for us, and our awesome friends who make drawings to be creative. In the awesomest way we could think of.
The rules are very simple, here they are:
1. Ursula or Lizz will close their eyes, open the The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures to a random page, and point.
2. We'll post the creature we land on and it's definition here on this blog and with a deadline to send in the stuff.
3. We (and you) will then have two weeks to create a drawing, painting, scuplture, or any kind of visual inturpretation of that creature.
(As long as it's based on the creature and it is something make-able in two weeks anything goes- we aren't looking to conjure up life's work masterpieces here, just to challenge ourselves to be creative on a consistent basis.)
4. You send us your stuff before the deadline to magicalcreaturesproject@gmail.com and when two weeks are up, I'll post it here so we can all enjoy the awesomeness.
5. A new creature will be posted, repeat steps 1 - 4.
